Job Description

The Associated Students of CSU, Chico is recruiting for the position of Student Programs and Events Coordinator. This is a full-time, full-year (2080 hours), non-exempt position. The pay range begins at $19.63/hr; pay rate is based on experience with new hires typically starting at the beginning of the range. The schedule for this position is event-driven, may include weekends, and is to be determined; it is also subject to change based on department needs.

  • Develops, coordinates and implements diverse and dynamic co-curricular student-centered events and programs for the Associated Students.
  • Research talent availability.  Negotiate terms for performing,
  • Researches and recommends program ideas.  Negotiates with talent/agent.  Review and prepare contracts.  Evaluates event risks.  Ensures appropriate insurance coverage and/or security is in place as required.  Ensures timely payment of contractors. Coordinates written evaluations and final close-outs of events.
  • Provides coordination and guidance on the viability of artists, performers, and programs for educational, social, cultural, recreational, and co-curricular activities.
  • Direct the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of all assigned students. 
  • Supervises students in the selection, preparation, production, and evaluation of events, including contract negotiation and implementation.
  • Attends program meetings and events, assisting with on-site production.
  • Develops and monitors program budget.  Prepares annual reports as required.
  • Develops and implements procedures for box office contracts, check requests, and other fiscal items.
  • Monitors the advertising and publicity for programs and events.
  • Represents Associated Students programming and events in contacts with the campus community, the public, and other organizations.
  • Ensures compliance with University policies and procedures and coordination of events with University Public Events.
  • Meets regularly with AS conference services and operations staff to ensure effective coordination and scheduling of events.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


One year full-time experience in campus based event programming involving general knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the Student Affairs field as well as knowledge of the policies, procedures and practices of student programming (concerts, lectures, film, etc.) is required.

One year of experience may be substituted with a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Administration, Student Development, Educational Leadership or equivalent (with emphasis in student affairs).


Bachelor's degree required.


  • Possession of or ability to obtain a current and valid California Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with Associated Students.
