Job Description

The Associated Students is currently recruiting for the position of Marketing Coordinator. This is a full-time, full-year, non-exempt position. The pay rate for this position is dependent upon experience. A generous benefits package includes medical/dental/vision/life/LTD, CalPERS retirement, and paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Relocation expenses are NOT available.

  • Plan and direct the development of all marketing and graphic design efforts for the organization to include social media, print and digital design.
  • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification.  Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML).  Set up and optimize company pages within each platform to increase the visibility of company’s social content.  Moderate all user-generated content.  Continuously capture and analyze the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then implement changes as needed.  Meet all established deadlines.
  • Coordinate the content, digital design and effective utilization of the corporate website and the Four Winds digital signage system.  Coordinates photography and video shoots.  Use software and other technology to manipulate photos and other imagery for publication.  Proofread copy.  Meet all established deadlines.
  • Coordinate designs of promotional material including posters, postcards, flyers, t-shirts, banners, signs, newspaper advertisements, and display materials.  Understands the various printing processes and is able to prepare files for press based on vendor requirements.  Coordinates printing and delivery schedules.  Meet all established deadlines.
  • Maintain, update and enforce marketing policies and procedures to include the corporate identity and branding guidelines and the social media policy.
  • Direct the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of all assigned students. 
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate project costs, and routinely evaluate other vendors for competitive pricing. 
  • Conduct focus groups, need assessments, surveys, etc. to ascertain campus view and perceptions of AS services, programs and facilities using appropriate methods for data collection.
  • In collaboration with the AS IT Director, develop, update and maintain the various AS web sites.
  • Meets with prospective clients, suggests and helps develop marketing concepts, analyzes project requirements, schedules, and estimates job costs
  • Prepare and submit project billing meeting all established deadlines.
  • Represents the Associated Students in contacts with the campus community, the public and other organizations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


  • Three (3) years related full time professional or technical experience is preferred in institutional marketing, public relations, graphic design  or public affairs, preferably for a non-profit organization
  • One (1) years full time supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point on both PC and Mac platforms
  • Knowledge of design software – Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, After Effects
  • Knowledge of basic HTML and CSS (Knowledge of PHP and JavaScript a plus)
  • Proven previous experience creating marketing/public relations materials such as flyers, brochures, newsletters, etc. – portfolio required


Bachelor’s degree in marketing, graphic design or related field required

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of or ability to obtain a current and valid California Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with Associated Students.
