Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Sponsored Projects is responsible for the post award administration of the University's extramural funding to include grants and contracts in accordance with federal, state and funding agency requirements. This position will also be responsible for regular interaction with the Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. The Director shall attend the CSUSM Corporation Board of Directors meetings and the Sponsored Projects Committee. Will supervise and oversee the Sponsored Projects department team - currently consists of two (2) Sponsored Projects Analysts and one (1) Student Assistant.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business Administration or Public Administration (related experience may be substituted for equivalent education).

Experience needed in the following areas: five (5) years of progressively responsible experience within the field of sponsored projects administration within a comprehensive academic or non-profit setting, including at least three (3) years' experience in a supervisory capacity; strong technical background in grants and contracts administration field, especially pertaining to federal programs; effective communication skils; knowledge of budgeting and general accounting concepts (for a full list of requirements, see online job posting).
