The Graphics Design Specialist produces graphic design print projects for all Associated Students’ departments and programs. Assists with ongoing design and maintenance of the A.S. websites.  Provides graphic design and website design for The Daily Aztec. Responsible for the digital signage programs throughout the Student Union, including creating the graphic displays, scheduling run times.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  •  Conceptualizes, plans, designs, and produces a wide range of specialized print and/or illustrative material, as appropriate. Makes corrections and changes to projects as appropriate
  •  Produces materials working directly on a Mac platform using: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
  • Works closely with A.S. staff and student committees on design projects, providing professional graphics design advice. Establishes and maintains graphics production timelines
  • Provides assistance with the day-to-day maintenance and design of the A.S. websites, Dreamweaver, CSS and other specialized software languages
  • Assists with developing, planning and coordinating of The Daily Aztec marketing projects; produces effective print, web and mobile app materials; including display advertising, electronic media, signs, flyers and brochures
  • Produces display and online ads and coordinates proofing with The Daily Aztec sales staff, and advertiser as appropriate

Minimum Education, Experience & Certification

  • High School Diploma required.  Certificate from accredited Graphic Design vocational program or AA degree in Graphic Design from accredited Community College required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience in graphic design for print required
  • Working knowledge of Adobe In-Design, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dreamweaver and other related software, on a Mac platform required
  • Experience in web design and maintenance preferred


Schedule and working conditions

This is a regular, full-time position with expected hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking around campus. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Depending on program requirements, physical demands may require standing and walking for extended lengths of time and may require lifting, pushing, pulling, moving and carrying items up to 40 pounds.
