Job Description

The HR Trainer develops, implements, and administers a comprehensive training program for UEI. Administers the Educational Assistance Program and coordinates a health and wellness program for UEI employees. Participates in the UEI Employee Appreciation Committee. Ensures recommendations align with the UEI Mission and Vision Statements, Operating Values, and Strategic Goals. Provides back up assistance in the administration of the recruitment program for regular, benefited positions. May assist with developing job descriptions. The position reports directly to and receives general direction from the Director, Human Resources. The position receives periodic work direction from the Assistant Director, Human Resources. The position provides work direction to support staff.


Performs assessments and conducts studies to determine training needs, effectiveness, and costs. Makes recommendations on cost-effective ways to meet company-wide and departmental employee development and training needs. Ensures recommendations align with the UEI Mission and Vision Statements, Operating Values, and Strategic Goals and support the Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action programs. Plans and conducts training sessions as appropriate. Schedules venue, coordinates or prepares the physical setup including any audiovisual equipment, coordinates preparation of and delivery of training materials, and remains on-site as appropriate to greet attendees, introduce the trainer, and coordinate unexpected needs such as room temperature adjustments. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. Demonstrated experience maintaining a training program for a medium to large organization including planning and conducting training sessions, performing training needs assessments, and maintaining a training library. Demonstrated knowledge of training principles, methods, and practices. Demonstrated experience developing course curriculum and associated training materials. Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources policies and practices as they apply to a medium to large organization including the application of EEO/AA/ADA laws, their implementation and reporting requirements. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret laws, ordinances, and regulations to accumulate and analyze data, prepare reports, and speak and write effectively. Excellent written and oral communication skills including making presentations to large and small groups. Must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills. Demonstrated experience effectively communicating and working with all levels of employees and/or customers while maintaining a professional demeanor and exercising tact and good judgment. Demonstrated experience working with and maintaining sensitive, confidential information. Demonstrated experience with computers including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software, such as the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite. Must be extremely detail oriented and have good organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and the ability to coordinate many different tasks, determine the relative importance of each, set deadlines and complete projects accordingly. Must pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting. Must continue to meet the established standards.


Advanced Human Resources or Training certification or education such as SPHR or PHR certification, Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) or the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification. Demonstrated experience coordinating an effective company wellness program.
