About the Role:
The Associate Director of Financial Services supervises 2 to 4 full-time and 2 to 4 part-time employees in the Financial Services Department and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Financial Services Department functions including payroll processing, payroll taxes, general ledger, financial reporting, internal audit, and compliance with local, state and federal law.
Detailed Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and direction to the Financial Services staff engaged in difficult financial, clerical, and technical work including processing payroll, payroll taxes, the General Ledger, and Financial Reporting.
Manages and oversees all payroll procedures for the company including administering payments to employees, managing the team involved in the preparation of payroll, timely and accurate submission of payroll reporting with State and Federal agencies, review of tax reconciliations, year-end reporting including W2’s, and employee timekeeping training and compliance.
Provides support at events at venues, including, but not limited to, Snapdragon Stadium and Viejas Arena, as needed.
Provides guidance and support for tip and service charge reporting.
Partner with the HR and Financial Services team members to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of reporting, while documenting processes, controls, and identifying and implementing improvements.
Responsible for complex accounting concepts including but not limited to Long Term Debt, Lease Accounting ASC 842, and Retirement and Postretirement Benefits.
Responsible for year-end audit schedules and other audit activity.
Responsible for executing Internal audits of operational and financial functions from start to completion under the consultative direction of the Director of Financial Services.
Evaluates and updates written documentation of policies and procedures of the Financial Services Department functions.
Selects, trains and evaluates staff. Provides leadership, sets priorities, and assists staff as necessary with difficult accounting problems. Cross trains employees and promotes teamwork of staff to achieve corporate goals.
Evaluates and restructures work procedures and workloads as new developments occur.
Oversees, reviews, and reconciles financial transactions of the company including information received from sales audit and payroll departments, cash receipts, cash disbursements, invoice processing, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and stock ledger adjustments. Identifies and corrects discrepancies.
Identifies and offers solutions to financial accounting software needs and problems.
Maintains the chart of accounts. Creates new hierarchical, statistical, and general ledger accounts as needed.
Supervises the preparation of special worksheets, analyses, and audit schedules; maintains a close working relationship with auditors to facilitate timely and cost-effective audits.
Prepares the annual budget for the payroll department and is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and planning.
Examines and reviews department expenditures in an effort to maintain cost controls.
Assures that the department adheres to purchasing policies and procedures.
Oversees the preparation of regular and special financial and statistical reports; analyzes, identifies and offers solutions for financial irregularities.
Provides operating managers and non-financial personnel training in the use and interpretation of financial data.
Minimum Qualifications:
Certified Payroll Professional Designation (CPP) Required
Five years of experience in accounting and payroll
At least two years of supervisory experience
