SUMMARY:
The Associate Director of Financial Services will lead and oversee the Financial Services Department, including Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax, Accounts Receivable, Sales Audit and compliance with local, state and federal law. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who excels at learning new processes and analyzing complex financial information. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in analyzing large datasets using Microsoft office, Microsoft Workspace and Financial Management Software as well as strong leadership skills, an aptitude for strategic thinking and a commitment to high standards of financial integrity and compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DEPENDING ON LOCATION:

Oversee and manage the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements. This includes the preparation of various analyses, statements and reports as needed, ensuring all financial information is accurate, complete, and delivered within established deadlines.
Identify and implement enhancements to streamline and optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the month-end close process.
Responsible for complex accounting concepts and principles, including but not limited to Long Term Debt and Lease Accounting (ASC 842), ensuring accurate application and compliance with relevant standards.
Provides operating managers and non-financial personnel training in the use and interpretation of financial data.
Oversee the year-end audit process, serving as the primary liaison with auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit. Coordinate the preparation and delivery of necessary documentation and respond to audit inquiries as needed.
Coordinate and lead the preparation and development of the annual budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and accurate financial reporting.
Identify and address issues related to financial accounting software, offering effective solutions to meet organizational needs and improve system functionality.
Maintain and update the chart of accounts, including the creation of new hierarchical, statistical, and general ledger accounts as required to support financial reporting and organizational needs.
Manage and oversee all aspects of bank account administration, including account set-up, maintenance, reconciliation, and ensuring optimal use of bank services.
Select, train and evaluate team members while providing leadership and setting priorities. Offer guidance and support on complex accounting issues, foster cross-training to enhance team versatility, and promote a collaborative environment to achieve corporate objectives. Regularly assess and adjust work procedures and workloads in response to new developments and changing needs.
Examines and reviews department expenditures in an effort to maintain cost controls.
Develops and maintains working relationships with customers, coworkers, student organizations, faculty, staff, university personnel, government agencies, and vendors.

Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The minimum requirement for applicants is a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related professional degree, licensed Certified Public Accountant is required, plus at least seven years experience in accounting and at least two of the seven years in a supervisory capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Strong verbal and written communication in English is essential for clearly conveying financial information, collaborating with team members and interacting with stakeholders. Requires the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, guidelines and objectives. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, subordinates, vendors, other departments, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to solve equations and apply algebraic principles to financial problems such as calculating interest and analyzing financial ratios. Must have proficiency in calculating present and future values of investments, amortization schedules and loan repayments. Must have the ability to analyze financial data and trends, identify discrepancies, and provide insights based on quantitative information.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Requires excellent analytical, quantitative skills, organizational and management skills.
MANUAL DEXTERITY:
Must be able to utilize a computer. Requires the ability to use a variety of office machines and equipment.
PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION:
Must have the ability to talk/expressing and/or exchanging ideas and hear/perceiving sounds.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machines, fax machines, and to operate a 10-key calculator. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; handle objects; keypad or papers and reach. Extensive use of computers and monitors is required. Physical demand requirements are at levels for sedentary work. Employees are occasionally required to stand, walk/move. Must be able to move, lift or carry heavy objects or materials up to 10 pounds. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision for extensive reading and interpretation of reports and documents.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS
Work is regularly performed in a traditional office setting but includes potential off-site work at venues and other operating units. There may be exposure to airborne particles created from incoming boxes and merchandise. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Occasionally will be required to attend outdoor events at Snapdragon (and other campus locations) that would require prolonged walking, standing and exposure to varying weather conditions, dust allergens, work temperatures and noise. Ability to occasionally work nights, weekends and holidays as business needs dictate.
BACKGROUND CHECK INFORMATION:
