Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Commercial Services, the Cal Poly Corporation Director of Human Resources (HR) is responsible for providing administering HR programs, policies and services for all corporation employees. The department consists of five full-time staff, including the director, one intermittent and three student part time staff, and oversees employment programs and initiatives including talent acquisition, recruitment and hiring protocols, compensation, benefits administration, performance management, employee relations, and employee development, training and safety. Staff in HR work with department heads, staff, faculty and administrators across campus to administer and support employment programs for all corporation employees, including those working on contract and grant funded programs associated with each of the six colleges on campus.
As a member of the corporation’s senior management team, the Director of HR fosters an environment of collaboration and building strong relationships with internal and external constituents. The incumbent assists in the development, implementation and execution of the corporation strategic plan and is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategies and tactics in support of the corporation’s goals and objectives, and for ensuring that the staff, systems and operations of the HR department run smoothly and are effectively managed, in alignment with those objectives and within budget. The HR director coordinates closely with other departments and divisions, advising on policies and practices, and recommending and implementing solutions, policies and practices that are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

This position is eligible for partial teleworking after an initial training period is completed. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check, educational and employment verification, and reference check, as required. Require: Graduation from an accredited four-year university. Minimum ten years of progressively responsible professional and supervisory work experience in human resources management including three years in a senior-level capacity.
Salary Range: $130,000-$170,000 annually
