MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, ASSOCIATED STUDENTS INC., STANISLAUS STATE

SUMMARY:  Primarily responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing marketing and communications initiatives while enhancing the marketing and communications efforts of the ASI & Student Center programs and services. This includes strategic communication development, branding, marketing research, forecasting advertising and promotions, video production, oversight of the website and social media.  This position reports directly to the ASI & SC Executive Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Directly supervises the ASI Marketing Services Coordinator and the ASI Graphic Design and IT Coordinator, and marketing student assistants by selecting, training, facilitating meetings, conducting performance evaluations, setting departmental goals, and monitoring and directing workflows.
  •  Develops member communications strategies, creates engaging and behaviorally motivating content, and manages communications campaigns, and materials, keeping the campus community informed of activities and programs offered by ASI & SC.
  •  Prepares, administers and analyzes departmental budget, financial records and payroll processes. Develops administrative reports as needed. 
  • Produces social media plans, directs staff to post material on social media sites. 
  • Creates and updates weekly marketing plans and ensures plans are followed.
  • Collects information and prepares data for the fall and spring event calendars.
  • Creates methods for promoting and selling products and services.
  • Identifies and evaluates digital technologies and uses analytical tools to measure site traffic to better optimize marketing campaigns, email marketing, social media and display advertising. Directs staff to ensure digital signage and ASI & SC websites are up to date.
  • Sets department goals and priorities in accordance with organizational goals and mission.
  • Manages video and photo presentations and provides overall guidance for uses.
  • Reviews all marketing materials to ensure compliance with University marketing guidelines.
  • Manages content for Campus Posting and coordinates with appropriate campus departments. (ie. StanNews and University Calendar).
  • Creates ASI & SC Organization semester and end of the year reports for submission.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication (s) or related field.
  • Three years of experience in marketing, public relations or public affairs, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Demonstrated expertise with staff supervision and budget management.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proven success in working with students, faculty, and staff, and reasonable experience and demonstrated capability in working with diverse student populations.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries and explain, interpret, and apply a variety of policies and procedures.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office.
  • English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Knowledge of state and university policies and regulations as they relate to marketing guidelines.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; lift and move objects weighing up to 20 lbs.; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment, including computer, telephone, copiers. Work is performed in an office environment and throughout the campus areas during student programs; continuous contact with other staff, students, faculty, and the public.  

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Satisfactory completion of a background check (which includes checks of employment records, education records, criminal records, civil records; and may include motor vehicle records, professional licenses, and sex offender registries, as position requires) is required for employment.   ASI will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants.

The members that make up the Auxiliary Organizations Association (AOA) are the auxiliaries of the 23 campuses in the California State University (CSU) system. The mission of the AOA is to facilitate the role of individual auxiliaries on their respective campuses by providing the auxiliaries with the resources and services that enable them to be more effective.

Becoming a member is easy. At the top of this page, click/open the link entitled Become An AOA Member.   You will be required to enter your work contact information, auxiliary and university affiliations and a valid CSU email.  Your request will be sent to AOA for verification and activation. Please allow 24-48 hours for activation.
