Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Executive Director, the Director, Children’s Center is responsible for allprogram operations including policy development and enforcement, grant writing, oversight of allcontracts and grants, budgeting, fund development and community relations (within and outside of CSUN). The incumbent supervises, trains, directs, and evaluates the Assistant Director, Food ServiceCoordinator and Office Coordinator; ensures that Center operation complies with county, State ,Federaland California State University, Northridge, health and safety standards and program quality standards; prepares the projected annual operating budget, monitors the accounting of income and expenditures ona monthly basis, and prepares required child development financial reports; directs daily center operations including ensuring appropriate staffing and adult-child ratios at all times, adheres to the Child and Adult Care Food Program, Title V and Title 22 regulations and compliance with all environmental health and safety regulations; oversees the selection of materials, scheduling of activities and coordination of all indoor and outdoor equipment needs; oversees the recruitment and supervision of teaching staff, administrative staff, student employees and interns; provides leadership in the creation and implementation of the child development program including the philosophy and educational goals of the program; communicates to parents and staff members both verbally and in written form clearly defined operating policies and procedures; researches grant opportunities and prepares grant applications; monitors grant activities and oversees the preparation of all required reports; establishes positive relationships with community partners, both within and outside of CSUN and use these relationships to further the mission of the Children’s Center; develops and monitors MOU’s with CSUN departments and community partners to provide needed services for the children, families, staff and center; assesses staff professional development needs; prepares and presents in-service staff development workshops; establishes and maintains professional working relationships with families, staff, students and community partners; makes policy decisions; assesses and oversees the work of other staff in assessing, CSUN student family’s eligibility for California State Department of Education child care subsidies; collaborates with University faculty in designing programs and collaborative opportunities; analyzes program data, prepare and submit all required reports; and performs other duties as assigned.
