GENERAL NATURE OF POSITION: The Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) department coordinates with SJSU University IT on all of the Research Foundation’s systems and telecommunication needs. ITSS provides IT support services to Central Office personnel and associated SJSU faculty (PI’s), CO student assistants, on-line users, including training, trouble-shooting, upgrading, and providing installations, configurations, and advice. As a member of the Information Technology team, the IT Analyst will assist in establishing, and will maintain the Research Foundation’s systems development methodology. In addition, this position will lead in the definition of the Research Foundations’ business models in order to support strategic information resources planning and implementation. The position is primarily responsible for implementation, support, and maintenance of the Foundation’s database software and ONESolution Enterprise System (Financial, Human Resources, Contracts and Grants Management). The incumbent will also be responsible for performing the responsibilities of the Systems Analyst during his/her absence, and for promoting and maintaining a total quality, service-oriented environment to meet the needs of the Research Foundation, its customers and clients. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates the Research Foundation’s (RF) Enterprise System a) Responsible for daily operation of OneSolution, the Foundation’s enterprise system. This involves continuous review and improvement of the computer system to meet user needs. b) Writes ONESolution system reports including Click Drag and Drill reports (CDD), IBM Cognos reports and SQL reports. Understands user needs to recommend report formats for user, to help them complete their tasks faster and more efficiently. c) Writes Webforms and Workflow modules to streamline and automate processes. d) Builds and maintains file import/export interfaces for the third party applications such as the Positive Pay, US bank P-card, Worxtime, NOVAtime, and other applications needed by the functional departments. e) Collaboratively partners with all functional departments to understand the RF’s overall operation needs, and sets up enterprise system process switches and calculation codes accordingly. Works with consultants and users on setup, testing and rollout of new applications. f) Manages and implements expansion of ONESolution functional modules, such as Funding Alerts. g) Provides on-campus and off-campus users access to the enterprise system, using cloud-based technology. Performs periodic user access review. h) Debugs program problems; works with vendor’s technical support teams to resolve issues. i) Provides training to all users. Writes and updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Policy and User manuals a) Write and updates the SOP for IT operations such as user access review procedure, month end report, process procedures, Tape and Backup and Data Retention Policy, etc. Operates the Research Foundation’s File Servers and Network a) Manages Microsoft Windows servers and local area network, providing file storage, file sharing, scanning, printing and copying services to the Central Office. b) Provides security to protect the RF’s computer systems, cooperates and collaborates with SJSU IT in all areas such as firewall, active directory service, DNS, and Qualys scan. c) Provides desktop and laptop support to the Central Office personnel, as requested or as appropriate. d) Provides service to Central Office staff with telecommunication needs, including VPN. - Directly reports to the IT Manager
- Works and interacts with vendors, end users, department staff and managers, other Foundation co-workers and university faculty.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
- Minimum of three years’ progressively responsible experience in Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) design development, SQL, programming, support, maintenance and training is required.
- Minimum of two years experience with Windows Server, SQL server ,TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP is required.
- Three years of VBscript, and web programming, such as HTML, JavaScript, ASP, XML experience is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP system including reports, webforms, workflow, troubleshooting, user training.
- Strong working knowledge of Operating Systems, Active Directory, Network, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite and other Office Productivity Technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and support a wide variety of software applications.
